How to hide Plain Text Some Sensitive Information In Notepad

Written By Unknown on Saturday 7 January 2012 | 02:25

Today I Will be sharing a most important hidden notepad trick to create hidden text file to using notepad for hide plain text data.

When you create a new file and type some data, one unnamed default stream is created to store all data written to the file. Since NTFS file system in Windows 2000 or above has supported Alternate Data Streams, so you are allowed to create additional streams for text file. All data stored in the addition streams will be hidden and none of us will be able to read the data when opening the file. This may be useful when you would like to hide some sensitive info from being read by others when sharing the file to public.

Simple Follow Steps to Create a Hidden Text file : -

Step - 1. : -
Ctrl+r  >>  Type " cmd " press " Enter "

Step - 2. : -  Locate the folder in Command Prompt where you want to save that file.

Step - 3. : -  Now Type this command in command prompt and hit " Enter " -
notepad <filename>.txt:<filename>.txt   >>  Hit " Enter "

Step - 4. : - It will open a notepad file and prompt you to save or not, just save it by clicking “ Yes ”.

Step - 5. : -  Enter any type of detail you want to save in that file.

Step - 6. : -  After finishing save the file again by using shortcut key “ Ctrl + s ”.

Step - 7. : - Now Close the file and it's Done.

Step - 8. : - Now move to folder where you created that file and see its size. Its saying this file is of 0 byte.

Step - 9. : - Now open that file, you won’t be able to see any of your information you have typed earlier, instead you will find that file an empty one.

Step - 10. : - To open that file again with all of your data, type the same command in Command Prompt which was earlier used to create the file.
